SUMMARY:Sustainable Saturday event on Sustainable Food\, Belmont Hall\, Wellington
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first free Sustainable Saturday event of 2025 on the theme of Sustainable Food! \n\n\n\nEvent starts at 10.30am and runs until 2.30pm.  The event will include: \n\n\n\nSustainable cooking workshop in the morning making plant based lasagne from surplus food from the Community Grocery in Ketley and pesto from locally foraged wild garlic which you can sample for lunch. Composting tips will also be provided. \n\n\n\nFood share table – have a rummage in your kitchen and bring along any packaged food you would like to rehome (items can be past their Best Before date but not their Use by date)  \n\n\n\nClimate Action Hub Telford plant based recipe cards for you to take \n\n\n\nKitchen equipment and cookery and gardening book swap and giveaway: bring any kitchen  items or cookery or gardening books along to swap.  \n\n\n\nEdible plant giveaway including plant seedlings and seed potatoes with growing advice from local expert The Green Cargo Gardener  \n\n\n\nShropshire Organics and The Little Green Pantry information stand about the local refill shop and the new local organic veg box scheme  \n\n\n\nInformation display about the carbon emissions associated with different food types and Grow Local booklet of community food growing projects in Telford and Wrekin  \n\n\n\nLow energy cooking appliances stand with an air fryer\, induction hob and slow cooker and comparing the energy use for each appliance vs conventional cookers \n\n\n\nSwap and giveaway for any household items\, books\, DVD’s\, toys\, clothes to swap for free or take for a pay as you can donation.  If you have any Christmas gifts that need rehoming bring those along too!  \n\n\n\nLeaflet stand with information from local eco groups you can get involved with \n\n\n\nEco library: Explore & borrow our eco library of books and magazines on Nature\, climate and living life in a more sustainable way.    \n\n\n\nTerracycle and recycling facilities and the opportunity to recycle electronic gadgets\, jewellery\, stamps and coins (see poster below).  Connected Mobile will be with us again providing advice and a collection point for any unwanted mobile phones.
