SUMMARY:Our sponsored evening film showing for COP28: My Extinction\, Wellington Orbit
DESCRIPTION:We will be sponsoring a film at Wellington Orbit to coincide with this year’s COP28\, which is running from the 30th November – 12th December\, where world leaders\, businesses\, faith and NGO groups meet to discuss the world’s progress towards achieving the Greenhouse Gas reduction targets set out during the Paris Agreement in 2015.    \n\n\n\nThis year COP28 will be held in Dubai\, United Arab Emirates\, a major fossil fuel producing nation.  The COP28 president\, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jabar is also CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.  If like us you are wondering whether those in power are taking the escalating and increasingly visible threats of the climate and biodiversity crises seriously enough\, come along to one of the two film showings we are sponsoring on Friday 8th December at Wellington Orbit to consider what action you can take.   \n\n\n\nYou can book your tickets from Wellington Orbit either online via www.wellingtonorbit.co.uk\, by phone 01952 743 377 or in person (1 Station Road\, Wellington\, Telford\, TF1 1BY).  \n\n\n\nPlease help us to spread the word about this film to your friends\, colleagues and networks.  We need to sell as many tickets as possible to cover our costs!  \n\n\n\nThe film My Extinction is a relatable\, and at times funny\, portrait\, about a concerned yet ineffectual dad who finds the first step is letting those unbearable feelings of climate anxiety in\, instead of pushing them aside. But as he meets others like him\, he discovers how oil-backed propagandists funded our denial and paralysis. The film sets out to unmask the vested interests responsible\, helping raise a generation’s leading authors in vibrant chorus at the 2020 game-changing Tufton Street protest. My Extinction is a revealingly honest account of how to feel your feelings\, act on your privilege\, and get active when threatened with extinction.

SUMMARY:Our sponsored film showing "The Felling"\, Wellington Orbit
DESCRIPTION:The Orbit Cinema\, Station Road\, Wellington\, TF1 1BY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs part of Wellington Green Festival we are sponsoring this film showing at The Orbit cinema to raise awareness of the urgent need to protect Nature. We need to sell as many seats as possible so please help to share the word! \n\n\n\nYou can book your tickets via The Orbit website https://wellingtonorbit.co.uk/film/the-felling/ or by calling in to the Box Office or ringing 01952 743377. \n\n\n\n“The film “The Felling” is a first-hand account of an extraordinary and shocking David-and-Goliath tale\, where Sheffield citizens from 18-90 years old rise up and become modern day heroes by putting their bodies on the line to stop the destruction of their city’s healthy street trees and help save the Planet from climate Armageddon. The documentary shows how a community of determined residents in one of Europe’s greenest cities\, battled peacefully with a powerful city council\, the police and a giant multinational corporation who came to chop down their beloved street trees in the middle of the night\, as part of a massive £2.2 billion private contract to maintain their city’s highways.  When an injunction threatens peaceful protesters with bankruptcy and imprisonment\, ordinary citizens are forced to ask themselves the crucial question: How far am I prepared to go to save a tree?”
