Reduce waste and promote sustainability by sharing our unwanted items, encouraging repair over replacement, and opting for borrowing or hiring instead of buying new.

Education is crucial in facing climate change. We strive to create a hub for learning, where we exchange ideas, information, and innovative solutions.

Building community

We invite you to participate in lively conversations and engage with like-minded individuals who are passionate about climate action. Together, we can make a difference.

Taking action

The time to act on climate change was yesterday, but the second-best time is now. We encourage everyone to get involved and contribute to combat this global challenge.

What type of activities do we host?

We host swaps and giveaways where you can trade or collect an item for a small donation, jumbo sale style. Items include DVDs, CDs, books, kitchenware, home decor, toys, clothing, and more. We aim to prevent waste by trading quality items instead of disposing of them when we no longer want them.

Our garden scrap store is a collection of recycled items used for gardening. We also offer plant seedlings, seeds, and other essential items to start your garden. You can trade items with us or collect items for small donations.

Join us for film viewings at the Wellington Orbit relating to the environment. Support causes and educate yourself using media. Visit our events page for upcoming film viewings. Previous viewings include: Once You Know, My Extinction, and The Felling.

Our team will visit local areas doing community services like litter picking, creating bug hotels, joining in with protests, gardening, and other activites that support and promote climate action within Telford.

We host events for towards families and children, including gardening days, teddy tombola’s, local fayres and green festivals, crafts and other activities great for family days out.

Juliet Soria

Chair

My career has taken some diverse twists and turns but I have always had a love of the natural world and a passionate interest in preserving it for the future.

Following a degree in Zoology at King’s College, London, I worked with homeless families in the capital, supporting them while in hostel accommodation. I subsequently moved to Spain where I lived and worked for five years, teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Back in the UK, I qualified as a primary school teacher and worked in Shropshire schools for thirty years, holding the post of SENCO for the final twelve years.

Since retirement I have continued to work as a supply teacher in many different schools, and at vaccination centres during the pandemic. Recently I have started to keep chickens and bees and am currently studying for British Beekeeping Association exams.

Fiona Morgan

From a young age I have felt connected to Nature and wanted to do my best to protect our planet. 

From adopting a duck when I was a child, to conservation holidays, hedge laying and dry stone walling as a teen, to supporting the invaluable work of the Centre for Alternative Technology and Woodland Trust once I entered work as a social worker and could afford to give regular donations. 

Since 2016 I have become increasingly involved with campaigning due to my increasing concerns about the climate and ecological crises.  I began to realise that as individuals we have the power to take action for ourselves to help our communities and help the planet which is why I got involved in setting up Climate Action Hub Telford.

Jane Bundy

Treasurer

I’m a self employed sole trader of Plastic free, traditional kitchen and hardware goods, selling at and supporting local Shropshire markets. Present day. I  was also a company director for 12 years, running a successful internet business which, at its peak, employed 10 employees. My roles were business management, staffing, daily operations and company accounts (2007-2019).

After the sale of my business in 2019 I made a conscious decision to become more locally focused in my day to day life. I also became extremely conscious of plastic consumption and pollution in our everyday life. In Jan 2019 myself and my husband did a local campaign called “Plastanuary” and committed to zero purchase of any plastic, in whatever form for the month of January.

We involved all local shops that provided alternatives to plastic, posted it on SM and got a lot of interest and support.  It also opened my eyes to the community that was around me and the benefits of working together.  I now also work with Sustainable Wellington and at present we are aiming for Wellington to become a Plastic free town. 

When Covid-19 hit and then lockdown the importance of community rose to the top teaching us all its importance. I strongly believe that this is the future as we are moving increasingly closer to the changes that climate change is tasking us all with.

Elizabeth Pinfield-Wells

Trustee

As a mum of three I care deeply about the future of the planet for my children and other generations.

After my youngest son was born, I made a career change allowing me to put more time into voluntary work. I worked as a local journalist for 20 years and have seen first-hand some of the amazing work done by community groups.

Inspired by a lady I saw on the news during maternity leave, I set up Terracycle Telford in 2019 to encourage more recycling of items such as crisp packets and beauty products. The group now has more than 900 members and has diverted 1,135kg of waste from landfill. 

My passion for recycling goes back to childhood, when my granny taught me to never waste a thing, and I believe it should be a way of life – not a hobby. I look forward to helping others make what changes they can to secure a greener future for us all.

Daniel Watkins

Communications and Marketing Coordinator

Daniel joined us in August 2025 as a Trustee and as our Communications and Marketing Coordinator, focusing on our; website, social media and IT systems.

From an early age, Daniel took it upon himself to support local charitable organisations by encouraging many different positive changes to the way they work and operate. He has had many successes in reducing overhead costs of charities and helping them to make the next step towards reaching their goals.

Alison Burton

Trustee

I grew up being aware of living thriftily and not wasting anything, but my concern for the environment started to increase in the 1980’s, along with the growing public awareness of climate change. We visited The Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales several times which inspired our family further and in 2013 my husband and I were both involved in starting Kidderminster Transition group.  With support from Bewdley, several of us then set up Kidderminster Repair Café. 

After discovering what our carbon footprint was, we decided to make some changes in order to reduce it, such as deciding not to fly, using public transport and cycling as much as possible to get around and eating a mainly vegetarian diet.  There is still more to do but we’re all on a journey.

I retired with my husband to Telford in 2023 and enjoy various volunteering roles at All Saints Church, Wellington (now an Eco-Church), The Orbit and Liz Clare Community Orchard in Donnington.

David Brown

Trustee

David currently works as a Business Analyst with a software company. He has always been interested in ecology and alternative technologies. Growing up in a family of social activists, David was exposed to environmentalism from a very early age. An early memory was visiting the Centre for Alternative Technology in  Machynlleth in the 1970s and being impressed by the futuristic building techniques and home energy technology they were showcasing.

David’s climate interests are energy, transport and understanding what the data really tells us about the risks. He is still interested in how technology can help to reduce carbon emissions, but not opposed lower tech solutions; he drives and electric car, has solar panels and battery storage at home, but also grows organic food on his allotment, and makes his own compost. David is also a trustee of Transition Telford, an organisation with which we have many synergies.
