Join our Sustainable Sunday event in Wellington focused on Energy Efficiency with our additional swap, Terracycle recycling facilities and eco library.
This is a FREE event.
Refreshments and vegan snacks will be available throughout on a pay as you can donation basis
- 11am -12.30pm hot and cold drinks and cakes/biscuits available
- 12.30pm onwards hot and cold lunch served
11am: Event starts.
11am-3pm: Information stands and talks from; organisations about energy efficiency (including insulation and renewables options for your home and what grants and offers are available); and Telford residents about how they have made their homes more energy efficient and their experience of installing solar panels, batteries and heat pumps.
Marches Energy Agency (MEA) | Talk: 11.30am-12pm: General retrofit principles for insulating your home and making it more energy efficient and the grant funding schemes available to help you take action. |
Telford resident will provide information on energy efficiency measures taken at home including cost of installation, carbon and cost savings, any issues. | Talk: 12-12.30pm: Undertaking a whole house retrofit (including installing solar power, battery storage, air source heat pump, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation: triple glazing, electric car charging). |
My Low Carbon | Talk: 1.15pm – 1.45pm: The benefit of Solar PV (solar panels) & Battery Storage Systems and their Community Offer to those residents of Telford & Wrekin for installing these. |
Big Solar Coop | Talk: 1.45pm – 2.15pm: Provide information about the work they do installing large scale solar on local business and community buildings and how you can help. |
Energy Advisor & director of Shropshire & Telford Community Energy | Talk: 2.15pm – 2.45pm: Talk about the experience of installing and using an air source heat pump in his house for the past 3 years. |
Telford resident | Will have an information stand to demonstrate how a solar panel with an inverter/battery works. |
Swap and Giveaway: Swap for free or take any item for a pay as you can donation including household items, books, DVD’s, toys, clothes. By sharing resources we can reduce our carbon emissions and save money too.
Terracycle Recycling: Make use of our recycling facilities including Terracycle and the opportunity to recycle mobile phones, electronic gadgets, jewellery, stamps and coins (see posters below for full details).
Connected Mobiles Limited – a mobile phone recycling company based in Coalport – will have an information stand providing information about their service to refurbish donated mobile phones/use them for parts to repair handsets and their zero to landfill promise.
Eco Library: Explore our new eco library of amazing books and magazines which you can borrow on Nature, climate and living life in a more sustainable way.
