We will be sponsoring a film at Wellington Orbit to coincide with this year’s COP28, which is running from the 30th November – 12th December, where world leaders, businesses, faith and NGO groups meet to discuss the world’s progress towards achieving the Greenhouse Gas reduction targets set out during the Paris Agreement in 2015.
This year COP28 will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a major fossil fuel producing nation. The COP28 president, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jabar is also CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. If like us you are wondering whether those in power are taking the escalating and increasingly visible threats of the climate and biodiversity crises seriously enough, come along to one of the two film showings we are sponsoring on Friday 8th December to consider what action you can take.
You can book your tickets from Wellington Orbit either online via www.wellingtonorbit.co.uk, by phone 01952 743 377 or in person (1 Station Road, Wellington, Telford, TF1 1BY).
Please help us to spread the word about this film to your friends, colleagues and networks. We need to sell as many tickets as possible to cover our costs!
The film My Extinction is a relatable, and at times funny, portrait, about a concerned yet ineffectual dad who finds the first step is letting those unbearable feelings of climate anxiety in, instead of pushing them aside. But as he meets others like him, he discovers how oil-backed propagandists funded our denial and paralysis. The film sets out to unmask the vested interests responsible, helping raise a generation’s leading authors in vibrant chorus at the 2020 game-changing Tufton Street protest. My Extinction is a revealingly honest account of how to feel your feelings, act on your privilege, and get active when threatened with extinction.
