Our next Sustainable Saturday event will be on Saturday 4th April 10-2pm on the theme of ‘Spring Clean and Green Gardening’
The event will feature:
- The Little Green Pantry providing tips and advice on how to keep your home clean using natural products that are not harmful to us or the environment. Some of the products will be available to try out and/or purchase.
- Plant swap and giveaway including seedlings of tomatoes and vegetables and annual pollinator friendly flowers like marigolds and cosmos, perennial plant seedlings, edible plants (herbs, fruit canes), seeds and indoor plants. Take for a small pay-as-you-can donation.
- Garden scrap stall (including second hand garden equipment, tools, pots etc). Bring along any items to swap or donate and take anything you want for a donation.
- Free gardening books and magazines
- Dawley Community Garden will be on hand to advise on setting up a pond in your garden and will have a range of pond plants to giveaway for a small donation.
- Transition Telford will be present with information on how you can get involved – and more seeds!
- Eco activity for children: we will be making and painting Easter baskets from egg boxes – just in time for Easter Sunday egg hunts!
- Our Swap Corner will be open for donations and browsing including books, DVD’s, CD’s, household items, clothes, toys etc.
Free energy saving measures for your home: provided by Marches Energy Agency including LED lightbulbs, insulating tape, timers for appliances, humidity sensors, electric blankets, draught excluders.
- Leaflet stand advertising other organisations who are working on local climate and eco action
- Recycling: including Terracycle (please see the Terracycle Telford Facebook page for details of what you can recycle), electronic gadgets, jewellery, stamps and coins.
- Old mobile phone collection point courtesy of local Coalport company Connected Mobiles. Please reset your phone to factory setting if possible before you donate so they can be reused.
Bring along any small unwanted electrical items for us to recycle
- Eco Library: borrow books and magazines on Nature, climate and living life in a more sustainable way.
Free Refreshments: a delicious range of hot and cold food and drinks with lunch served from 12pm. Donations welcome.
