Join us for our free Sustainable Saturday event on the theme of Sustainable Energy Advice for the Home.
Event starts at 10.30am and runs until 2.30pm.
Workshops & talks
- 10.30am – 12pm: Telford Repair Cafe will provide a 1 hour workshop for you to make a sausage dog draft excluder out of waste fabric and clothes (All materials provided)Â
- 12-12.15pm and 1.45pm-2pm: Marches Energy Agency will provide a 15 minute mini workshop on the Home Energy Audit Tool (H.E.A.T app) which shows how much energy electrical appliances in the home cost to run and help you learn how to save money, energy and carbon.Â
- 1pm-1.45pm: 30 minutes presentation by Mike King who will talk about how he made his bungalow the greenest house in Telford plus Q and AÂ
Stallholders and activities
- Marches Energy Agency will:Â
- Give out free energy saving measures to install in your home including LED lightbulbs, insulating tape, timers for appliances, humidity sensors, electric blankets, draught excluders etc. Â
- Provide information and advice about how to keep warm this winter including how to access financial help.Â
- Advice on how to make your home more energy efficient & sustainable will be provided by:Â Â
- Shropshire Climate Action: providing information and their step by step retrofit toolkits to guide you through what changes you can make in your homeÂ
- Householders will answer your questions about the energy saving measures they have installed in their homes (including solar, batteries and heat pumps) including:Â Â
- Demonstration of vehicle to load (V2L) technology: showing how to use an electric car to power household appliances (the car will be parked outside Belmont Hall and be used to provide free cups of hot coffee!)Â
- Shropshire and Telford Community Energy information stand    Â
- Leaflet stand advertising other organisations who are working on local climate and eco action
- Swap and Giveaway: Swap for free or take any item for a pay as you can donation including household items, books, DVD’s, toys. By sharing resources we can reduce our carbon emissions and save money too.
- Recycling: including Terracycle (please see the Terracycle Telford Facebook page or our website for details of what you can recycle), electronic gadgets, jewellery, stamps and coin.
- Old mobile phone collection point courtesy of local Coalport company Connected Mobiles. Please restore you phone to factory settings before handing it over.
- Eco Library: borrow books and magazines on Nature, climate and living life in a more sustainable way.
- Free Plant Based Refreshments including lunch served from 12pm
