The event will feature how to eat a healthy and sustainable plant-based diet; how and when to forage for delicious free food; and how to grow, make and harvest our own food.  It includes:

Transition Telford’s annual Harvest Local – bringing food grown and harvested from their allotments and gardens, plus preserves they have made, for you to take for a pay-as-you-can donation.

Morning workshops: 2 Telford-based nutrition and wellbeing practitioners will demonstrate and discuss different plant-based dishes including:

Emma from Little Gannets, who specialises in encouraging children to eat healthily

Colleen from Nourish Holistic Wellbeing who works with adults who need nutrition advice.

A bread making workshop for children to make and bake a bread plait or roll during the morning to eat or take home to enjoy.

Afternoon workshop: CAHT’s own sustainable food champion, Jane, will give a talk about foraging for delicious wild food, with suggestions on dishes that can be made

We will also have:

Recipe books & gardening books to take for free or a pay-as-you-can donation. Please bring items to donate

Free ‘best before’ food items which are still good to eat.

Pumpkin Tombola organised by Dawley Community Allotments Garden group and information including a new gardening club based at Wellington Library on the 1st Thursday of the month 10am-12pm.

Plant & garden scrap store giveaway including trees, shrubs and plants for pollinators, and gardening equipment. Please bring items to donate.

Local councillor Carolyn Healy, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning & Sustainability for Telford and Wrekin Council, will also be attending.

Our Swap Corner will be open for donations and browsing including books, DVD’s, CD’s, household items, clothes, toys etc. Swap for free or take for a pay-as-you-can donation.

Free energy saving measures for your home – provided by Marches Energy Advice including LED lightbulbs, insulating tape, timers for appliances, humidity sensors and more.  

Recycling: including electronic gadgets, jewellery, stamps, coins for Recycling for Good Causes (see poster below for details) and small unwanted electrical items.  Please note we are no longer collecting on behalf of Terracycle Telford as the scheme is closing down. You can now recycle Tetrapak cartons in your purple recycling bin for the council to collect and soft plastics including crisp packets etc. are collected for recycling at most supermarkets.
